Leandro Barbosa is a socio-environmental journalist. He is part of the team that won awards at the Fetisov (2025), Gabo (2024), Vladimir Herzog (2024), Digital Media Awards Americas (2024) and Cláudio Weber Abramo (2023) awards for the Amazon Underworld project. His report on attacks on indigenous Avá-Guarani people in Paraná received an honorable mention at the Socio-Environmental Digital Journalism Award (2025). He is a member of Waki ​​Ambiental, a Latin American network promoted by the Pulitzer Center, with which he participated in the project “The Amazon, between the pandemic and destruction” (2020). He was a fellow at the Earth Journalism Network (2023) with an investigation into the trafficking of ornamental fish in the Amazon. Between April and October 2022, he worked as a content creator on the Amazon and disinformation at the Vero Institute. Before that, he collaborated with GLO.ACT, a UN project against human trafficking and immigrant smuggling. He participated in training programs such as Globo Lab Profissão Repórter, where he produced a report with the Krenak on the impacts of the Fundão dam collapse. His work on childhood and human rights issues earned his the title of Child-Friendly Journalist, awarded by ANDI.
