Mathias Felipe is a journalist, technologist, and researcher currently based in Australia. He has extensive international experience, having worked with organizations across Oceania, Europe, and Latin America. Notably, he led the development of AI and data-driven news products, including PlenaMata (in collaboration with Natura and MapaBiomas), Amazon Underworld and the AI-driven WhatsApp chatbot Boto for InfoAmazonia. His prior experience includes sports journalist for Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) and data journalist for La Nación (Argentina). He has also contributed to significant European research initiatives such as Human(e) AI, AI4Media (Horizon Europe), and JOLT, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie European Training Network project. Mathias-Felipe is the co-editor of “Journalism, Data and Technology in Latin America” and the forthcoming “Fact-Checking in the Global South” (Palgrave Macmillan).
